Landscape Under Occupation is a photographic and multidisciplinary installation that embraces slowness, materiality, and symbolic memory in an age of digital acceleration and mediated conflict. By reviving ancient techniques such as cyanotype, Halida Boughriet examines the image as both a political space and a poetic trace, in the spirit of Michel Poivert, for whom photography is at once a civic act and a gesture of archiving. The project is rooted in landscape not as a genre, but as a territory scarred by genocide, violence, displacement, and ecological exhaustion. War is not depicted here; it is inscribed, surfacing through absences, fragments, and buried geographies. The cyanotypes, revealed by light, carry the imprint of time itself. Placed on the floor within engraved wooden frames, they explore their own sensory existence in space, breaking away from conventional modes of display. Through the intersection of photography, installation, and engraving, Boughriet responds to what Jean-Luc Nancy called the meaning of the world ; a reconfiguration of the visible within a universe saturated by spectacle. A phrase engraved on each frame,“A fleeting vision of the existence of another world”, acts as an invocation to silent disobedience, a form of poetic resistance against the trivialization of violence, inviting viewers to reconsider their ways of seeing.
